| Pipe Major Tom Coulson, pictured above as the appointed "Duty Piper" of the New Hampshire Highland Games, is the Hereditary Pipe Major of the South Dakota Highlanders Pipe & Drum. Pipe Major Coulson, W.O. II, Company Sergeant Major, 2nd Canadian Diviision, Essex Scottish 4th Brigade, 1st Battalion; was a graduate of the Army School of Bagpipe Music at Edinburgh. Pipe Major Coulson was a highly decorated Combat Veteran Piper of World War II and served actively from 1942 until 1955 Pipe Major Coulson's personally recorded bagpipe instruction and tutoring lessons, along with the bagpipes he played, are still in use by the South Dakota Highlanders Pipe & Drum.
